Inspiration….
One of my lifetime friends is expecting her second baby boy. Her pregnancy has been difficult, and complicated but she has never lost heart; more than once she has referred to her baby as her ‘superhero’. So only a superpowered project seemed fitting of his fighter spirit.
As her pregnancy progressed, I started work on a new graph seen here, but when complications threatened an early arrival; I scrapped my progress for a quicker project.

In my search for ideas, I stumbled across this superpowered pattern by Joann’s. (Link to pattern and supplies here)

The project was quick, easy and fun; and made me fall in love the Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn; which is SO soft, and smooth to work with! TIP: Pay attention to gauge!
While I enjoyed making this pattern and was excited to send the blanket off; I did not pay close enough attention to gauge so my completed project did turn out smaller than the estimated size of about 39″ (138 cm) pictured above, but was still a perfect baby-sized blanket.
This pattern works up quickly and was completed in two days, with lots of breaks to chase toddlers. So, if you are looking for the perfect weekend project for your Mini Superhero, this might be the pattern for you!
