Have the perfect crochet graph for your next project, but not sure how to turn it into the Corner to Corner (C2C) crochet project of your dreams! This quick and easy tutorial will show you the basics of following a graph for your next pixel project!
Corner to Corner Crochet:
Corner to Corner (C2C) Crochet has taken the Crochet community by storm. It’s a quick, easy and versatile technique which is easily adapted to many different projects from scarfs to rugs. When you follow a C2C graph, each square represents a ‘tile’ of C2C stitches making it a perfect pick for pixel graphs.
Before you Start….
You will need to find perfect graph or chart, you can find some of my free graphs here and here. I also recommend checking out my Pinterest Board to help you ‘Pick Your Project’.
Using the graph as a reference, pick and purchase the required yarn colors or colors of your choice. TIP: If following your own color selection consider using a color guide as a reference as you move along.
Check to make sure your hook size to make sure you are using the recommended hook for the yarn you select. TIP: Check your yarn label for hook recommendations if not included with your pattern, chart or graph.
Following Your Crochet Graph:
Corner to Corner graphs are worked diagonally beginning from the bottom right corner and ending at the top left corner in the following steps:
- Your starting row will be one C2C square, which represents the bottom right corner as numbered below. Turn and complete two C2C squares for row two; increasing each row by one tile. You will increase until your project is the width or height required by your chosen graph.
- Once you have reached the required height, you decrease by one square each row for the remaining rows.
- For smaller graphs, it is easy to keep track of your progress. For larger graphs, I suggest you mark each row as you work. This can be done by highlighting the row, or by drawing a line through the last row completed.
Wrapping Up….
When you complete your graph, you will weave in your ends or may back your project to hide the ends as I did here.
Corner to corner crochet is one my favorite techniques or both its simplicity, and versatility. With the right graph, you can create words, characters or elaborate geometric patterns. The options are endless, allowing you to turn your favorite graphs into your pixel perfect project! Happy Hooking!
